In its new production of Twelfth Night, The National Theatre has taken the central themes of Shakespeare’s comedy – mistaken identity, unrequited love, gender fluidity - and successfully repurposed them in a 21st Century setting.

Of all the things you’ll probably do in New York, visiting the National September 11 Memorial & Museum is likely to be the most bizarre.

Your inner super-sleuth is about to unleash itself – underneath the (let’s not pretend otherwise) ever so slightly creepy tourist trap that is Madame Tussauds.

North Carolina is a southern state. You might not realise it without visiting, because the most recognised depiction is (probably) One Tree Hill – which, with its slutty cheerleaders, jocks with *hidden* depths and generic family-led drama, could pretty much be anywhere in the USA. Being that its northernmost state-line is a three-hour drive south of the former confederate capital of Richmond, though, it’s safe to say that North Carolina very, very much the start of the proper south – whether Brooke and co. liked it or not.

If you’re not a fan of seafood, look away now – because when you’re in Massachusetts, that’s what you’re eating. And if you don’t want to partake – well, what are you even doing here? One piece of advice for eating in Boston – Americans eat early. And by early, we mean full three courses at 6pm.

It’s been a staple of the hippie trail and a must-visit for backpackers for generations. But despite its longstanding popularity India has lost none of its allure, and in the 21st Century it’s just as mythical and enthralling as ever. Of course it’s still shrouded in intrigue. It’s the land of Ghandi, of painted elephants, of the Taj Mahal; of bindis and orange sellers and fuchsia saris and rickshaws careering through crowded streets at a break-neck pace.

With its bubbling volcanos, steamy outdoor thermal baths, frozen glaciers and whales to be spotted just off-shore, there aren’t many places on Earth that are as unique as Iceland. Situated just south of the Arctic Circle but just a three-hour flight from London, the Land of Ice and Fire seems like it’s a world away – but in fact it just takes a quick and cheap flight, and you’ll be transported to another world.

We talk to co-founders of theatre company the Angry Bairds, City MA grads Sophie Foster and Nazish Khan, about paedophilia, being thrown out of printing shops, Nabokov, Jeremy Forrest, Jade Goody, “that feminist stage”, Edinburgh Fringe, Lena Dunham, student apathy, twitter anger, Gossip Girl... Sophie and Naz are the Angry Bairds, and they’re about to hit London’s Vault Festival – a six week celebration of theatre, music and performance, which kicked off underneath the bustle of Waterloo last night.

This morning was our second Morning Gloryville experience – and if you’re a Londoner and you don’t know what that is, well, you really need to wake up and enlighten yourself to the joys of sober raving at 6 o’clock in the morning. East London’s glitteriest morning workout (read more about it here) has decamped westward and pitched up at MODE in Notting Hill, and we celebratedby making our way there at 6.30am today in a quest for some promised early morning rave-induced endorphins.

I didn’t know much about Antwerp before I visited it. My main source of information came from my chip-off-the-much-younger-block grandmother, who left me with the immortal words: “I once went to Antwerp. I fell over on the tramlines and smashed a bottle of Amaretto.”. Which is telling. I knew to expect trams, Italian liqueur and tipsy coach-tripping pensioners, at least.

After spending the whole of September in India, I was interested to find that an exhibition of the country’s modern art and sculpture was showing at Rome’s MAXXI Museum. The MAXXI, Italy’s National Museum of 21st Century Art, is one of Rome’s newest museums, opening its doors only last year. It offers a new way of looking at art, in a city revered the world over for its thousand year old churches and majestically displayed Caravaggios.

The first thing I see as I enter the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibition at the Fondazione Roma is a quote from O’Keeffe herself, displayed strikingly against an otherwise plain white wall: ‘Women don’t make good painters, they said,’ are her words. ‘I had never thought of it that way. I just painted, that was all.’.
